The Japanese fortune reading (Seimei Handan) we provide is based on a traditional cultural framework developed in 1918, not on any scientific or predictive methodology. Phonetic approximation, not real names

Real Japanese personal names are chosen by parents from a long cultural tradition, often with reference to family history, the seasons, classical literature, or the meaning of specific characters. The output of this tool is ateji (当て字) — a phonetic approximation that maps the sound of a foreign name onto Japanese characters. It is not a name in the cultural sense.

No tattoo, no permanent use

Every year, thousands of people receive permanent kanji tattoos whose meaning differs from what they intended. The Ariana Grande "shichirin" (七輪 = Japanese BBQ grill) incident, the long history documented at Hanzi Smatter, and countless social media stories make this point clearly. If you are considering a kanji tattoo, please consult a qualified bilingual Japanese language professional or an experienced calligrapher who can verify your choice in context.

Legal documents, official registrations, or formal correspondence;

Cultural nuance is real

Even with our quality safeguards — restriction to the 2,999 Jinmeiyo kanji, exclusion of inappropriate characters and combinations, and cross-checks against Chinese and Korean meanings — automated kanji selection cannot capture every layer of cultural nuance. Regional dialects, generational shifts, formal vs. casual contexts, and individual family traditions all matter, and no tool can fully account for them.

Our Seimei Handan readings describe a traditional cultural interpretation framework. They do not predict events that will happen in your life. We strongly recommend that you do not make major life decisions (marriage, career, finance, health) based on these readings.
